SEXUAL ETHIC
I am bound by Scripture. I believe in the overarching authority of Jesus Christ as expressed in Scripture. I have no choice but to obey Scripture and be bound by its teaching, even-and particularly-when the world would lead me in a different direction. I acknowledge marriage to be an ordinance of God where one man and one woman are conjoined in holy union as a reflection of Christ's relationship with His church. Any sexual activity conducted outside of this holy union is deemed sinful by God.
I am transformed by grace. Scripture teaches that humankind was born into sin and incapable of pleasing God without the transformative grace offered through Jesus Christ. Scripture does not allow us to "cast the first stone" towards any segment of our society, for we all stand in sin. By the same token, Scripture teaches that God transforms those who accept his grace. He does not merely accept us with our sin, but names it, contends with it and draws us into a happier life reflective of His glory. Our sins must be confessed and acknowledged so that we can receive forgiveness by God. Current trends are leading some Christians down a path of acceptance without the transformative power of grace. This path is in conflict with Scriptural teaching and stands in opposition to our basic understanding of Jesus Christ. Grace is the forgiveness of sin, not the dissolution of the law. In an effort to be tolerant and loving, this trend actually leaves many in a state of non-repentance and hopelessness
